Supported Independent Living

At Moringa HCS, we understand that the level of support required by participants are different.  Supported Independent Living (SIL) is typically for people with higher support needs who require some level of assistance at home all the time. This might include people who:

      • Need help with daily tasks and personal care
      • Require support to develop life skills and increase independence
      • Prefer to live in a shared accommodation setting

Our SIL services offer:

  • Personalized support: SIL is tailored to meet the individual needs and goals of each person. It recognizes that everyone’s needs are different, and support should be flexible and adaptable.
  • Focus on independence: The primary aim of SIL is to empower individuals to develop skills and increase their independence. This could include help with daily tasks, personal care, or learning new skills.
  • Home-based support: SIL is provided in the person’s own home, whether it’s a house, apartment, or shared living arrangement.
  • Variety of supports: SIL can encompass a wide range of supports, including:
    • Assistance with personal care (e.g., showering, dressing, grooming)
    • Help with household tasks (e.g., cooking, cleaning, laundry)
    • Support with social activities and community participation
    • Assistance with medication management
    • 24/7 supervision, if needed
